Future Author/Avid Reader/Book Reviewer

I have loved books for as long as I can remember. When I was a child, my dad bought me a little plastic record player. With it came a book with a record in the cover sleeve. When you played the record, it read the book. There was music and it would tell you to listen for the “ding” which told you it was time to turn the page.

It was my first audio book.

My fourth grade teacher introduced me to the wonders of C.S. Lewis when she had us read The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. I remember sitting on the floor of my closet, wishing I could find that road through my old winter coats and into the snowy realm of Narnia. I shivered at the sheer iciness of the White Witch. I imagined long walks with Aslan as he filled me with knowledge and wisdom.

Years later, my aunt would put Little Women in my hands by Louisa May Alcott. Again, I lost myself in the world of the March sisters. On and on, book after book would lead me to worlds unknown, to worlds that didn’t exist. These were worlds filled with power and magic and beauty and so much loveliness, I couldn’t help but want more.

My love of reading has been passed down to my daughters, both avid readers. Through them, I discovered a whole world of young adult books. With them, we went to book conventions and so many signings, meeting inspiring authors from Sarah J. Maas, to Tahereh Mafi, Ransom Riggs to Nicola Yoon and so many more. Young adult books are not just for young adults.

I’m also a huge fan of ghost stories. I love stories with a lot of history, where houses and ancient trees are characters. My favorite authors of the paranormal currently are Wendy Webb, Karen White and Leanna Renee Hieber.

Now, as I begin on my own writing journey, I wanted to create a place to talk about books, review books, help new authors get noticed so their books get read and take you along on my very first writing adventure!
